Chestnut Ridge official facing charges for not reporting sexual assault gets bail reduced
BEDFORD COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Patrick Isgan is facing charges for a reported role he played as Chestnut Ridge's Middle School Vice Principal in not allegedly not reporting sexual assault incidents involving students.
Isgan made a court appearance Wednesday looking to lower his bail. A judge's decision was made to reduce the bail amount from the original $1 million to $100,000 with only 10 percent ($10,000) having to be posted.
Officials said Isgan had already posted bail and the money will be refunded.
The defense argued that in an incident last November, Isgan and the middle school principal reviewed surveillance footage from a school bus, but did not see any inappropriate acts in the video. They said a similar incident came along in February, but school officials came to the conclusion that there "may have been" inappropriate touching. Defense attorney Thomas Dickey said in that case Isgan did report the incident to ChildLine.
The defense said it is ready to fight the over 60 charges Isgan is facing because they do not believe he committed a crime.
Bedford County district attorney Ashlan Clark said she believes prosecutors will be able to make their case at the upcoming preliminary hearing scheduled for April 17.
