Former SNL Alum Jan Hooks Dies
NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) — Comedian Jan Hooks, a veteran of the long-running live comedy show Saturday Night Live, died in New York City on Oct. 9th. She was 57 at the time of her passing.
A cause of death was not announced, however, according to TMZ, who first reported the story, Hooks had been battling a serious, but unspecified illness.
A native of Decatur, Georgia, hooks cut her teeth in the comedy field as a member of the legendary Los Angeles-based comedy troupe, The Groundlings. Hooks joined the SNL cast in 1986, along with Chris Farley, Dana Carvey and Phil Hartman and was perhaps best known for her portrayal of Candy Sweeney of the Sweeney Sisters.
Hooks exited the show in 1991, but remained active in film and television, appearing in a number of situation comedies on television and a number of feature film, including "Primetime Glick" and "Batman Returns." – Staff Writers
