How to Start Dawn of Ragnarok AC Valhalla
Dawn of Ragnarok, the much-anticipated DLC expansion to Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, is set to release very soon. This DLC will see the biggest melding of history and mythology in the AC series yet, as Eivor will take on the godly powers of Odin the Allfather and participate in their own epic saga for the ages. Though, if you have played any other AC: Valhalla DLCs, you know how confusing unlocking and accessing them can be. In fact, there are three distinct ways to do this for Dawn of Ragnarok. In our How to Start Dawn of Ragnarok AC Valhalla guide, we will explain all three of these.
How to Start Dawn of Ragnarok Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Expansion
As we mentioned, you can begin the Dawn of Ragnarok expansion in one of three ways. This DLC has a suggested Power Level of 340. If you don’t meet it, don’t worry, you will be able to play the DLC regardless. The first method is for players that have met this PL requirement. After you have installed the DoR DLC, you will get a new Ravensthorpe quest. After completing this quest, go back to England. You will need to have gotten your Ravensthorpe settlement to Level 3. Valka will arrive and you will get the “A Wise Friend” quest. After completing it, you will get the “Restless Dreams” quest. It is during this quest that you will start the Dawn of Ragnarok expansion proper.

When you try to access this DLC by following the steps above, you will get a warning screen. This will inform you that you are underleveled for this, but that you can still play. You will get a Boost, which will essentially raise you to that level for the duration of the DoR expansion. If you leave the DLC, you will lose this gear and XP, but all the XP and items you earn during the DoR DLC will be yours to keep and take back to the base game. Needless to say, this can severely unbalance the main game, since you will get very powerful, end-game loot from the DLC.
The third and final method involves going into the “New Game” option from the Main Menu. In here, you will now have a choice between “Valhalla” (the base game) and “Dawn of Ragnarok”. By selecting the second option, you will only be able to play the DLC expansion. Otherwise, it works similarly to the second option, with you gaining a power and gear boost that will allow you to play it without being underpowered.
