Market Basket sells ownership of store after 50 years

JOHNSTOWN, Pa (WJAC) — The owners of the local grocery store Market Basket announced that they have sold the store after 50 years of service.

"After careful consideration, we have decided to sell the family business to another Johnstown family, one with considerable experience in the grocery business.," the post states.

Ownership of the longtime business has been sold to McAneny Brothers, a local wholesale company located in Ebensburg, who will take over on March 1.

"McAneny has been a supplier of ours for decades. They share the same values we do, so we are confident they will run our store with integrity and exceptional value as we have for the past fifty years."

We wanted the business to remain locally owned, with our same hard working and loyal staff, many of whom have been with us for years. McAneny have assured us they will honor the pricing and service you have come to expect from Market Basket.
