New bakery in Johnstown catches attention of many with sweet tooth

JOHNSTOWN - A new business that can catch the attention of anyone with a sweet tooth.

The grand opening of Lambcakes bakery located on Franklin Street in downtown Johnstown is Wednesday.

The owner, Chad Lamb, said he's thrilled to turn his passion into a business.

"For the last 17 years, I’ve just been baking as much as I can,” said Lamb. “I just love it."

Lamb said it’s like baking art and customers said it tastes as good as it looks

"We love Chad’s cakes,” customer Laurie Carl said. “We get them for birthdays and other celebrations. They are just so good."

Customers can choose from a variety of treats.

"Everything is made by scratch and everything is fully customizable from the flavor to the filling to the decoration on top, so really I make it yours,” Lamb said. “I'm just going to give people of Johnstown what they’ve been asking for."

Lamb said it might be tough keeping a small business alive in the downtown area, but said he's not worried because surrounding; successful businesses have shown him support.

Customer shuffled in and out of the bakery all day, leaving with smiling faces and bags filled with goodies. Lamb said his bakery is the sweet treat that Johnstown needs.

The bakery is open during the week from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. It’s also open on weekends from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, Lambcakes has a website where you can order treats.
