Nutcracker Auditions Announced At SUNY Purchase

PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Nutcracker is coming to The Performing Arts Center at Purchase College, SUNY, but it is not college students who will be dancing to the popular play’s classical music. Instead, the play will be performed by kids from Westchester and Fairfield counties.

“We welcome all boys and girls between the age of 5-13 who have a talent for movement and some previous dance experience,” said Wallie Wolfgruber, director of the Conservatory of Dance, in a written statement.

Auditions will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. Sept. 15-16 on the Purchase College campus at the Dance Building.

“The Conservatory’s enchanting version of The Nutcracker will feature choreography by John Heginbotham [formerly of the Mark Morris Dance Group], internationally recognized choreographer Nicolo Fonte and Conservatory of Dance faculty,” said Purchase College.
