Pamela Long Net Worth – $500,000

What is Pamela Long’s net worth?

Introduction

Pamela Long is an American singer, songwriter, author, and musical performer who gained fame for being a member of the 1990s R&B group “Total.”

While she is no longer a part of the girl group, she still records songs and performs at small venues.

The Origin Story

Pamela Long was born on March 24, 1978, in the United States.

She was raised in a Christian household and regularly attended Sunday Church services.

When she was only 8 or 9 years old, it became apparent that she had a natural talent for singing, and she decided she would become a professional musician.

During an interview, she explained how she got her start in the industry.

“It all started at 8 or 9ish, umm, I was actually in church, and the first time I sang a solo in church, and the reaction of those in the church was just like ‘oh, I can sing!’ But I knew that as a young girl growing up, it was something I did all the time. You know, as a toddler, it was innate; it was just in me, something that God had given to me.”

So from this point, Long spent all her time singing and honing her skill to pave her musical path.

When she was 15 years old, a family friend took her to a studio in Plainfield, New Jersey, to record a song written by Norman Bradley.

It was actually at that point that she met Jakima Raynor and Keisha Spivey.

The two girls were already a duo at the time and were working directly with Mr. Bradley.

He was looking for a third member of the group, and when he heard Long’s vocals, he knew she was the perfect addition.

He called Long on the phone to ask if she was interested, but her initial response was ‘no.’

After a few moments of deliberation, she changed her mind and became the official third member of the group, leaving her previous life behind her.

The trio signed with their manager, who had close personal ties to Puff Daddy, so she introduced him to the group.

They met him in his studio and performed a few singles for him.

The following day, he signed them to his label.

They recorded their first single, which was subsequently released on the New Jersey Drive soundtrack.

From there, their careers took off.

Throughout her journey, she had the opportunity to work with some of the best hip-hop and R&B artists, including Missy Elliott, Timbaland, Raphael Saadiq, D-Dot, and Pharrell Williams, among many other elite producers and songwriters.

It was released by Arista Records and Bad Boy Records on January 30, 1996.

The album went on to peak at No. 23 on the US Billboard 200 and reached the top five of the US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums.

It was also certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America and spawned the hit singles “Can’t You See,” “Kissin’ You,” “No One Else,” and “Do You Think About Us / When Boy Meets Girl.”

Following their tours and album promotions, they were right back in the studio recording their second album.

“Kima, Keisha, and Pam” was their second studio album and was released on October 27, 1998, via Bad Boy Records and Arista Records. The album peaked at No. 9 on the US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and at No. 39 on the US Billboard 200.

Further to this, in 1999, the album was certified Gold for excess of selling 500,000 copies.

It is unknown why the group broke up and went their own ways, but Long remained in the music industry, working alongside other artists.

In 2014, after her hiatus, Long reunited with Dyson and began performing and continued to do so under the group’s name.

Soon after, Long was invited to perform at the 2014 Soul Train Music Awards, and of course, she accepted the offer.

On November 30, 2014, Total joined Left Eye, Da Brat, Missy Elliott, and Lil’ Kim to sing “Not Tonight (Ladies Night)” at the Soul Train Music Awards.

While this was a massive accomplishment for Long in her first shot back on the scene, she didn’t release any independent singles or albums.

In May 2015, Long toured with American artist R. Kelly on the well-known Funk Fest tour.

In 2019, she released a video for her single “Why,” featuring Bre-Z.
