Roc Raida Dies After Martial Arts Training Accident

NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — DJ, turntablist and producer Roc Raida, known to his family as Anthony Williams died on September 19th due to complications resulting from an injury Williams received during martial arts training. He was 37.

According to the Vancouver Sun, Raida, an avid practitioner of martial arts had injured his back while training at the gym. He had two surgeries to correct the injury and resultant complications led to his untimely death while recovering at an inpatient physical therapy facility.

Raida was an accomplished DJ, with a 1995 DMC World DJ Championship win under his belt and a place in the DMC Hall of Fame. During his career, Raida released seven albums with his group, the X-Ecutioners and six on his own.

During his career, Raida worked with numerous artists, including Busta Rhymes, Ghostface Killa, and the Jungle Brothers among others.

"To me, he was the best DJ on the planet–nobody can tell me different," Lord Finesse, a friend of Williams told StreetHop.com. "Until they do what Roc Raida has done, from body tricks to beat juggling to speed scratching. I mean, everything … he made that shit look easy."
