Stoker Wieczorek
Weekend News Anchor / Multimedia Journalist
Already an award-winning journalist, when he was 21 years old, Stoker Ray Wieczorek started his career at WJAC, based out of Johnstown, PA! He began working as an (MMJ) Reporter on December 19, 2022. Stoker has since been promoted to Weekend News Anchor, as of April 14, 2024!
Being from a family of doctors, Stoker was born in Latrobe, PA in January of 2001, and grew up in Ligonier, PA. He is thankful to have his parents supporting him in a different avenue than what they’ve pursued. Because antenna signal reaches to parts of his hometown, he grew familiar with WJAC.
Being a member of the National Art Honor Society, Stoker majored in Communications Media Production at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He graduated ranking Magna Cum Laude, in December of 2022, just before starting at our station. He executively produced the IUP-TV News Bulletin, for over a year and received the “Comm Leidman Award for Creativity,” in May of 2022. He was also named a Provost Scholar for the University. In his spare time at college, he worked in the photography club, sang the U.S. national anthem at basketball games, and hosted the 90.1 FM, WIUP morning radio show.
In his junior year, Stoker realized he wanted to start reporting in news, after his professor showed him the job of a Multimedia Journalist. In the summer of 2022, he interned with 6 News in Johnstown, and further developed his journalism skills. This led to him taking a job offer with WJAC, in November 2022.
Stoker says “Every person I’ve met while working here, has taught me something. It keeps me motivated to know that I am taking steps to hopefully leave this world a better and more informed place, than before. I believe that’s coverage you can count on.”
When he is not working, you can find Stoker working out at the gym, taking photos of the surrounding area, singing in his car, playing the guitar, or most importantly, spending time with family and his dog, “Chase.”
Stoker loves to meet new people, so don’t be afraid to introduce yourself, and say hi!
