Student Caught With Unloaded Gun On Clarkstown High School Campus
In Anne Arundel County, Severna Park High School was temporarily locked down early on April 23, when officers were called in to investigate a threat of possible violence, shutting down the middle and high school.
Meanwhile, in Montgomery County, police say that Wootton High School was ordered to shelter-in-place, and Albert Einstein High School was evacuated, where there were threats made targeting both buildings.
All of the threats were determined to be unfounded.
Following the investigation into the bomb threats, an advisory was issued by Clarksburg High School Principal Anita O'Neill advising the community that a student was caught with an unloaded gun on Tuesday afternoon.
"An individual reported to a school administrator that they believed they witnessed another student attempting to conceal a weapon in his bag," she wrote. "Montgomery County Police were immediately called and responded to our school very quickly."
Officials said that the student was taken to the office and asked to conduct a self-search, during which an unloaded gun was found. The student was subsequently arrested, removed from the building, and could face discipline from the school district.
"The police had no information concerning a direct threat to the campus or any individual and there is no information that the student intended any harm to anyone in the building today," O'Neill continued.
"This is 'see something, say something,' and I am very glad this person took the initiative to report what was seen to the administration."
